The Challenge
To create an easy-to-navigate financial planning solution that is simple to use and can scale with business growth.
Legacy Farmer is a family-owned Kansas-based company that works with agricultural business owners to create financially stable and sustainable businesses. They provide training, networking, accountability, and resources to solve critical business problems for the businesses in the agriculture industry. As their client base began to grow, Legacy Farmer needed a solution to efficiently maintain, track and update new and current client progress and their next steps.
The Problem
Legacy Farmer built their business using a combination of optimized Google sheets and inputting data manually. As their business began to grow, they soon realized that they needed a custom solution to manage their client workflows. Their internal procedure for onboarding new clients consisted of duplicating Google sheets, and manual client inputs across hundreds of cells. They did this all within Google Sheets which did not offer the flexibility or features they truly needed to grow their business. To fix this problem, they reached out to FHG for a custom software solution that was easy to use, could scale with their business, and had additional features that could increase internal and external usability and functionality.
The Process
The FHG team first analyzed the existing data process entry system used by Legacy Farmer. Then, from their analysis, the team spoke directly to Legacy Farmer, asking them to identify new features they wanted to accomplish with their new custom software solution.
From that dialogue, FHG built out a series of mockups to present to Legacy Farmer. These mockups showcased the app’s look and feel, giving Legacy Farmer a few options to choose from. After signing off on the designs, FHG got to work.
Throughout the development process, both teams connected through bi-weekly scrum calls to discuss and view each screen as it was completed. Both teams worked together to identify necessary changes and became a cohesive unit when priorities shifted.

The Result
The new software solution was implemented in late 2021 and has been hugely successful for Legacy Farmer. Since the software was rolled out, Legacy Farmer has onboarded most of its new clients and updated existing clients with ease.
